strategic/critical infrastructure for years.
It have been invaluable for
business consulting in the field of Big Data Analytics.
High Resolution Telemetry
Monitoring Platform
"Underwatch" is a platform (with portal), which clients utilize to monitor their strategic/critical infrastructural systems (almost like your logging in and viewing a security camera installed at your house, but in this case, it could be a power grid substation rather than a house).
Now, imagine monitoring several power grid substations on a network and/or many networks of networks. That is the power of Underwatch.
An Artificial Intelligence Platform, which includes state-of-the-art aberration detection methodologies.
"Underwatch" is a platform that can "see the forest from the trees" for Big Data Analytics decision support. It hybridizes Convolutional Adversarial Neural Networks (to see the trees) with Support Vector Machines (to see the forest). The methodology has been peer reviewed and successfully fielded in numerous areas.
A Platform comprised of a repertoire of time-tested tools, techniques, and procedures.
They say that "Local is the New Global." That is because understanding the hyper-locale provides the depth (and insights) needed for situational awareness. Developing the repertoire of tools, techniques, and procedures for various hyper-local environments takes time, and "Underwatch" has the benefit of this accumulated human experience vantage point to discern what is going on "beneath the surface."
On 14 September 2007, U.S. Secretary of Defense Gates provided news anchor Jim Lehrer of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) a reference to the term “overwatch:” vantage points, via satellite, aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, high-ground positions, etc. The now Chief Architect of the “underwatch” project first coined the term on 8 April 2010 to reference vantage points that were not necessarily attributable to a positive position on the z-axis (i.e. aboveground and/or relatively higher altitude), but rather from a negative position on the z-axis (i.e. underground and/or relatively lower altitude). More generally, the term “underwatch” refers to not only underground elements (e.g. conduits, duct runs, high-voltage underground cables, manholes, power transformers, risers, transformer vaults, etc.), but all aboveground elements of a power grid infrastructure (e.g. aboveground substations and their associated high-voltage transmission lines and/or low-voltage distribution lines, etc.), as pertains to infrastructure monitoring, maintenance, and repair.
